Webroot Acquires Security Training Platform

Endpoint security company snaps up the assets of Securecast in a move to build out a training program to test users ability to recognize a phishing attack.

Webroot plans to launch a phishing training platform using assets it acquired from Securecast, the company announced today.
With the acquisition, Webroot is unveiling a beta of its Webroot Security Awareness Training platform. The platform is designed to allow companies to operate simulated phishing attacks and test their employees ability to recognize bogus emails after undergoing a training course.
The phishing simulator uses a template library that allows managed service providers to test users with real-life phishing scenarios, and also customize the tests to their particular line of business. The training is also tracked for company reporting purposes.
Webroot Security Awareness Training will be merged this fall into Webroot SecureAnywheres business portfolio at which time the platform will be generally available. Terms of the acquired Securecast assets were not disclosed.
