Team GhostShell Declares War On Russias Cyberspace


Hacktivist group leaks 2.5 million accounts and records from a variety of Russian organizations



The hacktivist group Team GhostShell has posted some 2.5 million records on the Internet in a protest against the Russian government.
In a
dump of files on the Pastebin site
, Team GhostShell says it is declaring war on Russias cyberspace in an initiative called Project BlackStar. According to the group, the leaked files come from government, education, law enforcement, medical institutions, and large corporations, among others.
The leak is split into multiple files that appear to be from a variety of Russian institutions and businesses, including the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
The group has leaked hundreds of thousands of records in other postings during the past six months, usually in an effort to make a political point. Most recently, it leaked some 120,000 from major universities in an initiative called
Project Westwind
.
