Palo Alto Networks Plans to Acquire Cloud Security Firm

Most of Fortune 100 firms have used Bridgecrews service in their application development processes.

Palo Alto Networks today announced it plans to purchase Bridgecrew, a cloud-based security platform for software developers, for around $156 million.
Bridgecrew espouses a so-called shift left strategy for developers, where developers and DevOps teams can ensure and enforce security infrastructure during the entire software development process. Some 70% of the Fortune 100 are customers of Bridgecrews Prisma Cloud service. The firm also offers an open source infrastructure-as-code scanner called Checkov.
Bridgecrew co-founders Idan Tendler, Barak Schoster, and Guy Eisenkot — along with their teams — will join Palo Alto Networks as well.
Shift left security is a must-have in any cloud security platform. Developers dont want to wait until runtime to find out their security is not working, and the CISO charged with protecting the entire organization certainly values higher security from fixing issues earlier in the development lifecycle, said Nikesh Arora, chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks, in a statement. When combined, Prisma Cloud customers will benefit from having security embedded in the very foundation of their cloud infrastructure.
