OPM Finds Another 4 Million Fingerprints Stolen In Hack


Fallout from the data breach at the Office of Personnel Management continues to swell.



The US Office of Personnel Managements original count of 1.1 million peoples fingerprints exposed in the massive data breach was way off: the agency today said it has since discovered in its investigation that a total of 5.6 million users fingerprints were breached.
Even so, the total number of people affected by the breach remains the same, 21.5 million current and former federal employees and contractors as well as job candidates, the agency said today.
OPM maintains that the ability to misuse fingerprint data is limited but this probability could change over time as technology evolves, according to a report by The Hill.
