Honda Pauses Production Due to Cyberattack

The attack reportedly infected internal servers and forced Honda to halt production at plants around the world on Monday.

Honda has confirmed that a cyberattack has disrupted its internal network and forced a temporary suspension of production and vehicle shipments at some of its factories around the world.
The incident affected Hondas ability to make use of its internal systems, including its ability to use email services and access servers, the Japanese automaker said in a
statement
to the BBC. One of its internal servers was targeted from the outside and an infection spread throughout its network. Some
reports
point to ransomware, though there are no details on the malware used.
Honda paused operation at some plants as a result of the attack. Most have resumed as of today; however, facilities in Ohio, Turkey, India, and Brazil are still suspended as the infection interfered with production systems. Japanese operations were not affected in the incident. The company is taking steps to minimize impact and restore its production, sales, and development.
