Headline: Microsoft Buys Access Management Firm CloudKnox Security

Summary: The acquisition is intended to help build out Microsofts cloud security and identity offerings.

Microsoft will acquire CloudKnox Security, a cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) provider, for an undisclosed amount. The purchase is meant to help Microsoft expand its cloud security and identity capabilities, officials report.
CloudKnox was founded to provide organizations with a SaaS platform for managing identities, permissions, and resources in the cloud. Its technology helps businesses determine permissions and enforce least-privilege principles as a means of lowering risk. Microsoft has stated the technology will strengthen its approach to cloud security; however, it has not yet provided details on how.
In a blog post, Microsoft officials note they will provide more details at a later date on how the technology will integrate with its existing identity, security, and compliance products such as Microsoft 365 Defender, Azure Defender, and Azure Sentinel.
This security purchase is the latest in a series for Microsoft, following its acquisitions of RiskIQ and ReFirm Labs earlier this year.
