Hackers Make Off With Millions From Wisconsin Republicans

According to the Wisconsin Republican Party, thieves used altered invoices to make off with $2.3 million in election funds.

The chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party says hackers stole $2.3 million from an account being used to help re-elect President Donald Trump. According to an AP story, the theft was discovered on October 22 and immediately reported to the FBI.
The theft occurred when hackers modified invoices submitted for services such as direct mail and products like campaign giveaways so that payments went to the criminals rather than to the legitimate vendors, the state party says.
The theft exposed tensions between the state party and Trump re-election campaign officials, who learned about the hack from media reports, according the AP article. Wisconsin Republican officials who spoke to the AP say they arent aware of similar activities launched against the Republican Party in other states.
