Wearables company Garmin shut down its website, app, call centers, and other services in the aftermath of a security incident.

Fitness wearable maker Garmin shut down its app and services this week following a suspected ransomware attack.
A notice on the Garmin Connect website
reads
: We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin.com and Garmin Connect. This outage also affects our call centers, and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails or online chats. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for this inconvenience.
The ransomware attack locked up Garmins internal network and some of its production systems, ZDNet reports. The incident has affected its official website, aviation database services, some production lines in Asia, and Garmin Connect, the tool users access to upload their runs and bike rides.
While Garmin has not confirmed the ransomware attack, the report says, employees online connected this incident to the WastedLocker strain of ransomware. The report also notes Taiwanese tech news website iThome published a memo from Garmin IT staff to its Taiwan factories announcing two days of maintenance due to an incident caused by a virus.
