FBI Arrests NSA Contractor For Alleged Code Theft


The FBI has arrested a contractor from the National Security Agency for the possible theft of secret codes created to break into foreign government networks.



A National Security Agency contractor was recently arrested by the FBI, the
New York Times
reported today. Investigators are currently researching the possible theft and disclosure of source code built to break into foreign government networks, the Times reported.
The NSA contractor allegedly took classified code developed by the agency to access systems for nations including Russia, Iran, China, and North Korea, the report continues. Officials have reported some of the data he allegedly stole was dated.
The Department of Justice announced the arrested suspect is Harold Thomas Martin III, who worked for consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. In an investigation of Martins home in Glen Burnie, Md., officials discovered materials that were property of the US government and contained highly classified information.
