DoD Travel System Breach Exposed Data of 30K Civilian, Military Employees

Defense Dept. says contractor that handles travel management services was hacked.

The US Department of Defense travel management system suffered a data breach that exposed personal and credit card information of at least 30,000 military and civilian workers.
According to the Associated Press, DoD officials learned of the breach on Oct. 4, but the attack likely occurred months before that. A report by Data Breach Today said the breach occurred at a travel management services firm that handles a small percentage of DoDs travel services.
The Department is continuing to assess the risk of harm, a DoD spokesperson told Data Breach Today. While additional information about this incident is being gathered, the department is assessing further remedial measures.
