CrowdStrike Agrees to Acquire Preempt Security for $96M

CrowdStrike plans to use Preempt Securitys conditional access technology to strengthen its Falcon platform.

CrowdStrike has agreed to acquire Preempt Security, a provider of zero-trust and conditional access technology for threat prevention, for $96 million, the two companies announced today.
The endpoint security company plans to integrate Preempt Securitys technology into Falcon, CrowdStrikes cloud-native endpoint protection platform. Falcon already includes threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and incident response, among other capabilities.
This deal is meant to further strengthen the platform with conditional access technology, which will help users with greater visibility and enforcement for identity data, CrowdStrike reports. The inclusion of Preempts capabilities will help protect businesses from insider threats and other identity-based attacks.
The technology detects identity-based attacks and unauthorized access attempts, allowing customers to block, notify, force re-authentication, or challenge the user with multi-factor authentication, says CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz of Preempts tech in a

on the acquisition.
CrowdStrike plans to expand its zero-trust capabilities to incorporate critical identity data and create a new module as part of the Falcon platform. These changes will begin once the acquisition is complete, which is slated to happen in CrowdStrikes fiscal third quarter of 2021.
