‘Guccifer’ Gets 52-Month Jail Term


The Romanian hacker pleaded guilty to hacking and compromise of personal details of around 100 high-profile Americans.



Romanian hacker “Guccifer,” who pleaded guilty in May this year to hacking and identity theft of around 100 high-profile Americans, has been sentenced to 52 months in prison by a US court. Victims of the 44-year-old Marcel Lehel Lazar included a kin of two former US presidents, a former US Cabinet member, a former member of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, and  a former presidential advisor, according to a press release from the US Department of Justice (DoJ)
According to the release, Guccifer hacked the email and social media accounts of his victims between October 2012 and January 2014 and made public confidential emails, photographs and private medical and financial data.
